Kateri at The Black Swan Tonight
Kateri Lanthier is a busy poet. She’s been reading recently at several events around Toronto and tonight she’s reading at the Black Swan’s Livewords event from her book of poetry Reporting from Night.
Black Swan is a fabulous cozy English pub on the Danforth. It has a quiet patio and a relaxed atmosphere. The perfect spot for four Toronto poets to read from their work. And a nice spot for a literary night out.
Livewords is a word-based performance series in Toronto, with a strong bias toward poetry in all its forms but also open to prose, and mixed-media performance. It evolved from the Diamond Cherry Reading Series founded by Devon Gallant & Julie Cameron Grey. Livewords has a strong association with Misunderstandings Magazine, as Diamond Cherry had before it, having hosted the magazine’s issue launch parties/readings over the past four years.
This promises to be a fascinating evening of poetry, great food and drink in a relaxed English pub. My personal favourite is the fact that as a patron you can sit on the patio, drink in hand, listen to fantastic poetry and enjoy the summer night.
