Sheila on Canada AM

Breaking news at Iguana Books. Author Sheila Robertson appeared on CanadaAM to speak about her recently released book Shattered Hopes – Canada’s Boycott of the 1980 Olympic Games. Sheila’s interview with friend and former Olympian Bruce Kidd by Bev Thomson is a compelling retrospect of the sacrifice Canadian athletes made to pursue Olympic dreams and represent their country on the world-wide athletic stage. It could be argued that their sacrifices were in vain.

As we near the 2012 London Olympics Sheila’s words come at a time when it is crucial to remember the sacrifice and dedication it takes to be an Olympic athlete and the conflict and pain that results when sports and politics collide.
